Welcome to World Nuclear Power 2012 Briefing!
“A recent report from the Economist Intelligence Unit shows that nuclear power will increase globally despite the Fukushima disaster. 8 out of the world’s 10 top nuclear countries will expand nuclear power with China set to expand nuclear power development by 500%!”
We are pleased to announce an exclusive 1 day briefing on World Nuclear Power 2012 that will be held in Hanoi on 17th January 2012.
We are delighted to have Lady Barbara Judge, Chairman Emeritus, UK Atomic Energy Authority and Chairman, The Energy Institute of UCL will be leading the briefing for the day and is looking forward to an insightful exchange of ideas and thoughts on the policies and issues that governments will have to face when determining whether to build nuclear power plants particularly after Fukushima.
A panel of key industry speakers including an Opening Keynote Address from Mr LE Dinh Tien, PhD, Vice Minister, Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) will add valuable insight to the challenges facing the post-Fukushima world nuclear industry - discussing safety standards, policies, climate change, financing options and technological advances at this issues-driven 1 day exclusive briefing.
Despite Fukushima, there is a building momentum in the region and around the world in favour of nuclear power. There is an undeniable growing urgency to replace fossil fuel with a more sustainable form of energy and this has refocused minds on nuclear power as a possible solution.
Where better than Vietnam to hold this not to be missed 1 day exclusive briefing for the nuclear power industry – Prime Minister, Nguyen Tan Dung has approved the nuclear power development plan for up to 2030. Construction of the first nuclear power plant will being in 2014 and it is envisaged that the first 1000MW turbine will start operation by 2020 and operational atomic power plants will have a combined capacity of 8000MW by 2025 and 15,000MW by 2030 accounting for some 10% of total capacity at that time. Vietnam has plans to build a total number of 8 nuclear power plants making nuclear power the country’s main energy source.
